Dayton's 4th Birthday- Diego Party

Many months ago, Dayton requested a Diego party for his 4th birthday, so we've been planning it ever since.
We handed out these Rescue Pack invitations to a few friends.
Nana made Rescue Packs for all our Animal Rescuers! With an Animal Rescuer patch and pocketOur group of Animal Rescuers:
Tally, Dayton, Evan, Parker, Luke, Bergen, JJ

(Daphne opted out of this photo)
A video of the start of our Diego Rescue Adventure

Dayton was a wonderful Diego during the game. He wore Daddy's old watch and pretended it was Diego's video watch. After each rescue, he told us, "My video watch is ringing with another animal to save!" He came up with the video watch part on his own- very cute.
Helping a bat find his brothers in the bat cave
The kids went up and down the stairs many
times to help each new animal along the way
Each Rescuer took a picture of the animal he/she saved
(here we helped a turtle find the lake)
For the baby chick, we used whistles to scare away the fox
Daphne gave the kitties water, and then took the picture
Using spotting scopes to find baby snakes
How we helped all the animals:
We fed a hungry dog bones instead of candy.
We helped a bat find his brothers in the bat cave.
We helped a bird get back to her nest.
We helped baby bear find his mom and dad.
We helped the turtle find the lake.
We scared away the fox for the baby chick.
We gave the thirsty kitties water to drink instead of juice.
We helped the mommy snake find all 8 of her babies.

At the end we reviewed all the animals that we helped
(great picture, huh? - thanks Derrick)
Then the kids put pictures of each rescued
animal into their Field Journals
Throughout the party, Dayton kept saying, "Mom, this is a fun party!" That made all of the preparations worth it!
Dayton chose this Diego cake- it was awesome!

Everyone sat on the kitchen floor to eat cupcakes
(easy clean-up!)

He's showing me an angry face

The weather was warm after the party,
so Dayton and Daphne ate lunch on the front porch

Later we had a dinner party with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dayton enjoyed re-playing his Diego game with Mia and Erica

Dayton showed Mia how well he can read books.
This was cute because he used to ask Mia to read to him instead!

You did such a good job with that party Michelle! JJ LOVED it and wears his "rescue pack" all over. I can't make the mistake of calling it a backpack!

Happy Birthday Dayton!

Great party! I love party planning personally, but the fact the kids like and appreciate it makes it all worth it too. Your kids are lucky to have such a wonderful mom that is so involved in planning cool activities for them.

Michelle you are awesome! That looked like an incredible party and Dayton will always remember it. I am so glad the rescue packs worked out because I was really stressed about them!
