Before we flew to Washington, Derrick's school hosted an ice-skating night with a pizza dinner, and the students' families were all invited, which made it a wonderful FREE family activity.
We were able to get skates that fit Dayton. He did well walking in them, but once we got onto the ice, he was done trying; he said he was all done about 45 seconds into the experience.

Video of Dayton's first steps on the iceThe ice skating rink was part of a game center, which also had a blacklight mini-golf course. Nobody was playing mini-golf, so the kids enjoyed climbing around on the course for a while.

Then the kids found rows and rows of video games. They possibly played on EVERY SINGLE ONE. They both loved pushing the buttons, steering, and shooting the guns, even though only demos were running on the screens.
Video of Dayton's gamingSince we were at the mall, we also stopped by Bass Pro Shop to get our FREE pictures with Santa. Daphne was terrified of him, so she wouldn't sit on his lap. But Dayton recognized Santa right away and ran up to him for his candy cane and picture (which amused me because last year Dayton was scared of Santa).
For days the kids talked about Santa and the candy that he gave them. Daphne even sees her Elmo outfit and says "hanta" (Santa) followed by "dadeen" (candy).

great pictures! sounds like a fun outing. have you guys been to the Jelly Belly factory yet? The train tour is sure to be a hit with your kids. we miss belly flops!
How funny about the ice skating! But at least the kids had fun playing! And cute Santa pics. You could have used those for your Christmas cards!
