Merry Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas! Both Dayton and Daphne woke up bright and early, and Dayton knew right away that it was time to open presents (because Mommy had told him the night before when he went to bed). Daphne was still a little grumpy, so she went back to sleep while we opened everything (even her presents). She was back awake in time to play with all the new toys.

Dayton's present-opening experience was frustrating for him because he wanted to stop and play with each toy as he came to it, but we insisted that he needed to finish opening them all before playing. He usually grunted and whined a little until we had the next present peaking out enough for him to be intrigued all over again and begin unwrapping. I won't list all the toys, but rest assured, they received PLENTY!

Derrick had as much fun as Dayton did with the new toys. He picked out the trucks and car racing track for Dayton.

The aftermath, or as Dayton would say: "Oh no! A mess!"
Can you believe my darling husband is cleaning up?

Derrick got socks and Oreo's.
Ring
Imagine my torment for the last few days because I thought I had lost my wedding ring! Derrick kept reassuring me that we'd find it, and sure enough, one of Santa's elves found it for Santa to put under my tree. Being the amazing, thoughtful, romantic husband that he is, Derrick's present to me was that he got my engagement/wedding ring refinished (because it's white gold) and cleaned. It looks just like the first day he gave it to me! Can anyone see it sparkling from Washington or Utah?

Pancakes
AFTER opening presents, we enjoyed blueberry pancakes for breakfast (we stole this idea from Aunt Kaili).

Here's a 4+ minute video of our cheerful first independent Christmas in our own home!

Skibicki's House
We headed to my Aunt Greer's house for the second half of our day. We had a delicious ham for dinner. Dayton LOVES the basement with the girls' old toys.

We managed to get Dayton upstairs to open presents and eat Greer's yummy cookies. After 2 cookies, Mommy told him no more, so then he went to Mia for his next 3 cookies! Smart kid. I think he has a mouthful in every picture.

This is a 1 minute video at the Skibicki's house, in the basement where Dayton spends ALL of his time. Mia's trying to do a cartwheel for the camera.

Christmas Beads
Here's Derrick wrapping Dayton up in our string of beads for the tree. Dayton actually enjoyed it!

Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas. I wish we could have spent it with you. This is the first of many wonderful McKay Christmases.

Derrick I could see how emotional Michelle was when she opened her present. It reminds me of the year Gary gave me a toolbox! I love the noise Dayton makes when he tears the paper off the presents.
