We met Jeff Kinney!

We went to the Boston Public Library today for a special event with Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.  Dayton is very into these books; he has read 5 of the 8 books so far.  These books are intended as fun reads for middle-schoolers, and have around 220 pages.  He reads each book in about a week- Dayton is quite the reader!

Jeff Kinney explained his process of writing each book; he spends most of his time coming up with jokes, then later molds them together into a story.  Jeff gets much of his inspiration from his childhood; he used an amusing powerpoint presentation with his talk.

 

After the lecture we got to meet him and have our books signed!  The staff told everyone that Jeff would not be doing personalizations; but we ended up in the back of the line, so he personalized our books.  Happy Day!
